Houston Hospital Chief of Medical Staff Successfully Used Ivermectin to Treat COVID Patients

KTRK news, known as ABC13 in Houston, Texas is reporting some local doctors have been successfully using Ivermectin to help treat their COVID-19 patients since last year.

According to the report, “Dr. Joseph Varon, chief of medical staff, said he has proudly been using it, off-label, to treat thousands of COVID-19 patients admitted to United Memorial Medical Center.”

Dr. Varon

“I have used Ivermectin in a few thousand patients,” Varon said. “I cannot tell you the exact number, but I know that it’s been quite a large number of patients and I have not seen a single significant side-effect. Not one.”

“He and his colleagues began touting the drug last December, holding a press conference to implore the medical community to use it as part of COVID-19 treatment,” ABC13 reported.

Varon told ABC13 that his team began using the drug last summer, saying “people were dying.”

“We were in the middle of a pandemic,” he said. “You have to try things. You have no choice.”

For cattle and swine.

He said based on his data, Ivermectin, in combination with COVID therapies, saves lives.

“It’s not just Ivermectin,” he said. “That’s where people get confused. Ivermectin helps you, but it helps you when you are giving it in addition to other components of treatment protocols that are out there.”

Ivermectin was developed to treat parasites in both humans and animals.

Ivermectin is an FDA-approved drug developed to treat parasites in both humans and animals at a very specific dose.

“But a recent surge on animal feed stores, where the drug is sold as a de-wormer for cows and horses, has the FDA sending out a warning, saying Ivermectin should not be used to treat or prevent coronavirus,” the report warned. “It is not approved for that use.”

Houston-area specialty pet store owners indicate they are running out of the product.

One Bandera, Texas rancher informed CleverJourneys that,”We have some cut up into small pieces to use just in case one of us gets it. We have a friend who swears it helped him last spring.”

The animal version of the drug, according to the FDA, is different than the human version, saying in part, “animal drugs are often highly concentrated because they are used for large animals like horses and cows, which can weigh a lot more than we do-a ton or more. Such high doses can be highly toxic in humans.”

  1. Anyone know what human grade sells? 600.00 per dose is what someone told me in USA.

Friend in Australia said human grade in AU is 200 tabs for 6.00 dollars. I don’t know how many tabs for a dose.

Cow … let me go check my medicine cabinet. 5 mg of ivermectin per ml… so 15mg would be 3 ml ( to use as price example not actual dose as I’m not sure what this would be) is less than 2 bucks.

Something wrong with cost structure. Isn’t pharma drug cost structure what created big problems for Trump ?

  2. Staci and I used it. I never expected Staci to live through Covid. She was improved faster than I was the first time.
We both used ivermectin and IV infusions

  3. Milligrams is milligrams.. I don’t care if its paste for elephants!. If you are using horse Ivermectin it is based on weight. Don’t use too much… pretty simple. The FDA thinks people are really stupid… but we the people know what the FDA is up too and it is not honorable. By the way, doctors generally recommend 0.2mg per kilogram… but if the situation is not improving or you start on day 5 of your illness then they will give 0.4mg per kilogram, once in a while 0.6mg per kilogram, but doctors who are using it say they never really need to give 0.6mg per kg.

  4. I would think it would be of value to get a copy of the book _Where There Is No Doctor – A Village Healthcare Handbook_ by Werner and Thuman if one was hypothetically planning to use veterinary grade medicines for human consumption. It was written for folks working in under-developed countries that don’t readily have access to our advanced medical industry. Oh look! Amazon has it too for around twenty bucks. For entertainment reading, of course.

  5. I use the cattle swine 1% ivermectin for my dogs for heart worms. Found a site online years ago with the dosages. Ex:
My beagle is 25# gets .23 ml which is 2.25 mg of ivermectin. I use a small needle to measure out of the vial but it goes on her food. I heard Rachel Maddow go crazy on people going to ER using this kind. Obviously too much.
